Wow I have been asked to submit a blog for CA AUS, more than happy to get my experience from the application process out to a broader audience!

First things first! I am Jimmy, 22 from Melbourne Australia… here we go! well it has been a massive road to get here. Last year the whole Camp America experience was a massive MAYBE and it kept growing on me as I told more and more people about my desire to do something like Camp America and you can’t share your ambition without hearing “MY FRIEND DID THAT AND THEY LOVED IT!” although I heard this a lot I never got sick of it, it was a constant reminder that this could be an experience of a lifetime that I will never forget!

Having worked with children in the Active After School Care program with proactivity I had absolutely no hesitations about working with children, although stressful at times it is always rewarding in one way or another. Teaching children a new sport every week was a lot of fun and I learnt a lot along the way. I have taught at some stage nearly every sport you can imagine (with the exception of cricket) My interests span over so many fields from sports to graphic design, video editing, Physical therapies, audio production to extreme sports such as skydiving. The best advice I can give to everyone who has not had a great deal of experience with children is, Be a leader and a friend and you can’t go wrong.

My application has just gone into circulation within the last week so it is definitely exciting times at the moment. I had a great time through the whole application process, my interviewer Nicole made the whole process easy and it was nice to have a laugh & a chat with someone new. The best part was putting together my application video. Which had a spelling mistake in it but by the time I posted it, it was too late to change, but it’s all good! You can check out the video here:

I look forward to updating this more regularly with my experiences along the Camp America journey! I also update the fan page I set up awhile ago while I was doing an online radio stint on WWSN Radio, will hopefully do another round of shows sometime soon. facebook.com/JimmyDonline feel free to drop me a message in some form or another would love to hear about everyone’s experience!

All the best everyone with applications and placement and I hope to meet some of you along the way.

Until next blog which I hope to expand on all the skills that I submitted in the application… JimmyD signing off.
