So you’ve had your Camp America interview and are even more excited to work at a summer camp, we’re excited for you! So what next?

1. Organise your references and police check

These things normally take the longest to organise, so if you haven’t already, make sure you send away for Australian Federal Police check form with a $43 money order or cheque. You should also be chasing up your two references. Remember these must be professional references (from someone in a supervisory position at work, school or uni), dated and signed, on a letterhead or our character reference with a business card or stamp (AFP forms and reference forms are available in the download centre). We can’t push your application through to camp directors without these things.

2. Complete your post-interview questions and make changes

You should log in an complete the new questions on My Camp America ASAP. Your interviewer also would have given you some advice on any changes you need to make to your application.

3. Extend on your skills

THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR APPLICATION! This is the primary part of your application for camp directors so it needs to be good! Once you have had your interview your skill extension needs to be emailed through to us at info@campamerica.com.au so that we can override your character limit. We will not push your application through to camp directors until this is done. Download the guide to extending your skills here.

4. Make a video

No matter how well you talk about your skills in your application, a video is way better and showing your personality and skills! Just watch Susan’s video to see what we mean!

While you can write about five skills you can just put so much more into a video. Think about it, if another person has the same skills as you but they have a killer video as well, who do you think will get hired first?

That’s it! Once all of this is done your application will be available to over 900 camp directors in the US! Click on the image below to see how camp directors see your application:
